Dining room

Service

The student dining room service is a subsidized program of attention to undergraduate students at the Bucaramanga headquarters, which provides during academic periods a nutritious and balanced meal, to help improve their quality of life and thus avoid their desertion or increase the time of completion of their study plan.

The student may request the service in any of the following modalities: Breakfast, Lunch, Meal.

Requirements

  • Low-income students who meet the requirements established in the Superior Council Agreement N°. 094 of 2016.

AUXILIARY SERVICE OF

Dining rooms and Cafeteria

The Dining Room and Cafeteria Service Auxiliary is aimed at students who, having registered for the dining room service, do not benefit from any of the services requested (breakfast, lunch, dinner).

Requirements

  • Low-income students who meet the requirements established in the Superior Council Agreement N°. 006 of 2017.

UNIVERSITARY

Recidences

This service is aimed at low-income students (men) from remote regions of Santander and other departments who require housing support and meet the established requirements.

The assignment is made taking into account the availability of free rooms and compliance with the established requirements.

  • Students with limited financial resources who meet the requirements established in Superior Council Agreement No. 086 of 2007 and Superior Council Agreement No. 031 of July 29, 2024.

Sustenance Assistance for

Student Heads of Household

A program aimed at covering housing rental costs for five (5) students who are single mothers and five (5) students who are single fathers. To be eligible, their place of origin and family residence must be outside the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga.

Cafeterias

Service offered to the entire UIS community, in the form of breakfast, lunch and snacks in general. Currently, the University manages 4 cafeterias, located at different points within the campus: Main cafeteria located in the Student Welfare building, Bienestar Pro cafeteria, Plazoleta Camilo Torres and Administration 3.

FAMILY OF SERVANTS

Scholarships

In accordance with current provisions, the Superior Council established a social welfare system for UIS employees, and its beneficiaries: spouse or permanent partner, sons and daughters of UIS employees enrolled in undergraduate, academic, administrative and social projection programs of the University. The university grants a subsidy of 90% of the tuition and in return, the student agrees to work a total of 32 semester hours per semester in academic or administrative work according to the needs of the requesting academic administrative unit, without establishing any employment relationship.

Participation of the

Enrollment Committee

The enrollment committee is the competent university institution to receive, analyze, document, resolve and respond to requests for reinstatement of enrollment of undergraduate students of the Universidad Industrial de Santander headquarters and its regional offices. The reinstatement of tuition is a right of the student whose socioeconomic conditions of the Family Economic Unit (UEF) have changed generating an unfavorable situation that puts at risk their permanence at the University.

The Tuition Committee is composed of the Head of the Financial Division or his/her representative, the Director of Student Welfare, two student representatives appointed through a democratic election process and a social worker.

PROMOTION OF HEALTH

Insurance for Students

Provides advice related to the steps that undergraduate and graduate students who are not linked to the General System of Social Security in Health, must take as holders of duties and rights in health, to access the services of an entity administering benefit plans EAPB, formerly known as EPS.

PROMOTION OF BENEFITS

Socioeconomic

The University has several socioeconomic assistance programs such as: dining services, university residences, female support assistance, administrative, teaching, extension and research assistantships, Student Welfare dining and cafeteria service assistantships, and the procedure for reimbursement of enrollment, for which informative spaces are developed about the guidelines and requirements for accessing these benefits.

The socioeconomic studies of the Student Welfare Social Workers are a requirement for the allocation of some of these benefits that seek to promote the permanence and quality of life of UIS students who show evidence of vulnerability and/or an unfavorable condition of the UEF family economic unit.

AUXILIATURES

Academic-Administrative

Assistantships correspond to support work that may be performed by undergraduate students of any modality and graduate students of medical-surgical specialties, master’s or doctoral research; in academic and administrative units and may be performed ad honorem or with economic recognition. They may be teaching, research, extension, administrative and special.

The special assistantship is directed only to first level undergraduate students who present conditions of high socioeconomic risk and will be assigned for special programs of accompaniment in charge of the Academic Vice Rectory, in order to reduce the risk of desertion.

  • Students who meet the requirements established in the Agreement of the Superior Council N°.020 of 2014 .
